How long does it take to activate a baby site?

Your own baby site can be active within five minutes! You’ve picked the design of the site and filled out the data form. Of course it’s possible to add more data such as pictures, family tree, baby book stories etc. later on.

When can I start with my baby site?

You could already start during pregnancy and start configurating the baby site by featuring the family tree or maybe even x-ray photos?

From the moment you’ve paid your own baby site is accessible on the internet for a period of six months. Do you wish to know the exact expiration date? Go to your own baby site and click ‘modify site’ to log in. The section ‘baby site activated’ indicates the end date. If you haven’t paid yet click here to log in and view how many days are left of your trial period.

I’m unable to find my baby site, how can that be?
|
|
|
In this case it’s very well possible that you 10 day trial period has expired and that your payment to hasn’t been received yet. Click here to log in for further instructions.

I’ve lost my password, what now?
|
|
|
No problem. You can easily retrieve it by punching in the e-mail address, with which you initially registered, on this page. We’ll send your password to this address to enable you to log in again.

What does extension of use of my baby site cost?
|
|
|
For £ 15,- you can extend your baby site for a six month period. You can indicate this through your own site. You’ll be informed in good time before the expiration date of the site.

What does it cost to store my baby site on CD-ROM?
|
|
|
Have your baby site stored on CD-ROM for £ 12,-. Two weeks prior to expiration of your baby site (either six months or one year) you’re able to order this CD through the ‘settings’ menu. It’s a great gift to give yourself!

How do I pay?
|
|
|
It’s easy and perfectly safe to pay by credit card, one-time direct debit or transfer.

Photos
|

How can I add pictures to my baby site?
|
|
|
It’s very easy to upload pictures on your baby site if the picture is already loaded on your computer, CD-Rom or digital camera. Are your pictures not digitalized yet? You can digitalize them by using a scanner or have them put on a CD-ROM by a photo lab. Go to your own baby site and click ‘modify site’ to log in or click here. Then go to ‘photo album’ and click ‘click here to add pictures’. Then click ‘browse’ and go to the directory in your computer where you’ve stored the picture that you’d like to add to your site. Click the name of the file to open and click the ‘send’ button. Your picture will then be sent and added to your baby site in the right format.

What kind of extension do my pictures require?
|
|
|
Only GIF, JPG and PNG formats can be used. The picture’s format is identifiable by the three-letter suffix of the picture’s file name (the extension). Have you taken pictures with your digital camera? Then it’s very likely that these are in JPG format (sometimes called JPEG).

What is the web address of my own baby site?
|
|
|
The address of your baby site is www.uniquename.starbabysite.co.uk. Uniquename refers to the name that you have chosen yourself when you registered for the baby site. Have you forgotten this name? No problem. Go to your own baby site, click ‘modify site’ to log in and go to ‘settings’.

Can I change the www-address of my own baby site?
|
|
|
Yes, you can. When you’d like to create a baby site before the birth of your child for instance. You can use a temporary name when creating your www-address. After the baby’s birth you can easily change the address of the site again. Beware: prior to mentioning your www-address on the birth announcement card, first check if the baby name you’ve chosen is still available!
|
|

How can I modify the design of my site?
|
|
|
Go to your own baby site and click ‘modify site’ to log in (or click here). Then click ‘design’. Here you can customize the theme, background and buttons of your site just the way you like it.

I don’t want to use all elements (baby diary, photo album etc.) of my site, is that possible?
|
|
|
Yes, of course! Go to your own baby site and click ‘modify site’ to log in (or click here). Then click ‘settings’. Here you can tick which element you’d like to activate on your site.
|

|
I don’t wish to feature the ‘tips & gifts’ button on my baby site
|
|
|
No problem! Go to your own baby site and click ‘modify site’ to log in (or click here). Here you can delete the tick from the box.
|
|
|
Can I secure my own baby site?
|
|
|
Yes, you can. Go to your own baby site and click ‘modify site’ to log in (or click here). Then click ‘settings’. Here you can indicate whether or not you’d like your site to accessible to anyone or not. If you’d like to impose a restriction you’ll be then asked to punch the mother’s first name as to enable only family and friends to visit the site.

Display your site on the home page
|
|
|
StarBabySite shows on the homepage the most visited sites. If you don’t wish to, simply indicate at the ‘settings’ menu that the site isn’t accessible to anyone. This way the site is excluded from the selection.
|
|
|
The site doesn’t function properly
|
|
|
Should the site not function properly it may be duet o the fact that your ‘cookies’ have not been correctly set. What do you have to do? Go to you internet program Internet Explorer. Select ‘tools’ > internet options > privacy > advanced. The ‘first party cookies’ may not be blocked..
|
|
|
Pop-ups
|
|
|
It’s possible that some screens aren’t visible or quickly disappear. If this is the case you’ve activated a pop-up blocker. If you can’t login because of this, we advise you to go to the home page and click on ‘log in’ there. This is a regular screen. It’s also possible to overrule the pop-up blocker to enable all screens to appear normally.

Give site as present
|

I’d like to give a baby site as a gift. What do I need to do?
|
|
|
It’s very easy to do so. The only thing you’ll need id the e-mail address of the (future) parents. You can give away a baby site by clicking ‘baby site as gift’. You’ll be clearly guided through several stages. After receipt of your payment of £ 22,- the site will be handed over to the (future) parents as a gift. They’ll automatically receive a festive e-mail message.

When can the (future) parents actually use the baby site?
|
|
|
As soon as we’ve received the payment, the (future) parents will be informed of their baby site gift. A festive e-mail message informs them of the gift and they’ll be able to inaugurate it instantly. The gift donator will also receive an e-mail message. If you’d like the (future) parents to receive the gift as soon as possible, we advise you to pay with a credit card. The payment and also your gift usually are received within a single day. You don’t have a credit card? Then pay with a payment authorization. This is much more efficient than making a money transfer.
